Fuel injectors..

Post by kokkolanpoika »

Hi.

Couple of question.
I update my 5.2L RV8 last winter with megasquirt 3X semisequential fuel+ wasted spark COP (8x IGN-1A) coils.. (old Haltech batchfire + MSD 6AL+MSD dizzy)
+ rise my compression ratio 10.8:1 to approx 12:1 + i fit crane cams douple valve springs vs old Real steel DW040 single witch have seat pressure/lift pressure is near half VS Crane cams..
Injector size 315cc@3bar, my fuel pressure is 3.8bar so injectors will flow approx 350cc?
Problem i found. Old haltech has got injector duty cycle 75% AFR is 12.5 @5500rpm with dyno and road. (optimised)
My new MS3 has got duty cycle +90% and AFR is 14.7 @5500rpm.. and 13.3@3500rpm

Quick calculations.
http://www.injectorrx.com/sizing.html
381hp need 80% duty cycle and my engine made 381hp wit 75% duty cycle last year/old setup. So quite close those numbers.. And calculated injector size is 312cc.

Is it possible that those upgrades made so big difference in power/AFR?

Is my only choice to buy bigger fuel injectors? I don´t want to burn my injectors to add 100% duty cycle.. :D

What size you recon? I´m thinking to buy some day wild cats or TA heads.. + maybe use RE85 fuel.. Is it better now buy set of like 450cc injectors and if someday need bigger, then buy bigger again..
Not sure for MS3X how it will drive big injectors at idle? + low RPM fuel mist is bad for big injectors??
