Hi Guys, I'm looking at geting the olis needed for the V8 tomorrow, but the Castrol RS 5w40 has been discontinued..... aparently it has been replaced by Castrol edge 5w40 is this still OK to use??
And the other option, Mobil1 0w-40 has 2 different options: new life or turbo diesel..... again which one??
At a guess I would have a punt at eather the Mibil1 new life 0w-40 or the edge 5w40 as the next options to the recomended Castrol RS and straight Mobil1 0w40??

LT77 oil..... recomended has been dicontinued :(

I use Castrol Syntrans, it is a 'proper' gearbox oil not an engine oil. It ain't all that cheap, you need two bottles of the stuff (it was Castrol SMX)

The other oil that I've used in the past is Redline MTL (Not the 90 heavy shock oil)

The Redline seemed as good as the Castrol but the cold shift was slower. (I just lived with that because I treat the engine and box with kidd gloves when its cold)
I switched to Castrol really because you can get it from most Halfords.
