Wrong Bellhousing...maybe

Post by timnutt »

Hi,

Just picked up an LT77 and bellhousing off ebay. The number on the LT77 is a 17A, so not the best, but it is good working order. However, I can't see that the bellhousing is from that SDI 2600 car. Here's what I know about the bellhousing:
- It bolts to the LT77
- It bolts to the RV8 lump I have
- It has a hydraulic clutch lever (something the ad didn't mention)
- and when you feed the input shaft from the LT77 through the bellhouse "hole" (not sure what you'd call it) the shaft isn't long enough to come out the other end, so it won't mate with the clutch.

The number on the bellhousing is HRC2642 (BSK1). Is this the wrong one? What can I do, other than ditch it and buy another SD1 bellhousing....Arrrggh

Thanks
TimN

If it fits the V8 block, but the input shaft is too short, it's probably a Land Rover bellhousing, which is very long.

Google for a few pictures to see if it matches up with a Land Rover LT77 (or R380 I think) with transfer box, to be sure the picture is of the 4x4 version.

Oh Poo!
The one I bought is longer than the SD1 ones I can see. Anyone got a SD1 bellhouse for sale ?

Thanks
