Special Tool
As I'm new to this board I'll probably ask questions which have already been asked (and answered) many times over so apologies in advance!
Today's question is this; the big end bolts (and those on the oil filter housing) on my RvR 3.9 are of a type I've never come across before; sort of fluted. Can anyone let me know what the name of the tool is that I'll need to remove these bolts and is it a special Rover tool?
Thanks in advance
Steve

Hi Steve,
They're called 12 point or Bi-hex head bolts. You can buy ring spanners & sockets to match. 5/16" for the oil pump & I'll check the big end size for you.
Regards Ged.
Just checked & big ends are 1/2".

Can be hit and miss, but handyCoops wrote:try ebay mate, that's my first call for most things now days.
But always check Amazon as well. Ive found a lot of stuff on Amazon cheaper than egay.
I used to take for granted egay would be cheapest....definitely not the case anymore. Probably down to their extortionate fees.
it's always worth searching other places.
Although for tools, if Halfords is handy, their stuff really isnt bad at all.
