Indeed - sadly, the last one which I had tried to weld - then gave up on, cleaned up and then fillered - didn't machine out inside nicely.

Ah ah there is an secret and I keep it jealously :lol: .
No in fact with the milling machine the centering is based on the existing machining in the plenum which itself is not parallel to the water jacket underneath of the plenum and often not in exactly the same place between two plenum.
When I made my bracket to hold the plenum on the lathe I based my centering on the external half circumference of the top of plenum.
So now the new machining is always correctly centered to avoid water jackedt underneath and the by-pass pipe.
Hope you understand what I tried to explain LOL. It is already not easy in french so in english for me.... :?

I fully understand you. I assumed that if I offset bored it that would result in having to relocate the throttle spindle - I assume thats not the case then.
(Big sorry to the o/p - we are way off topic now...)
