Make sure the plugs are clean and dry. Forget trying to pull fuel in by holding your hand over the primaries. Stick a good squirt of petrol in, maybe 3 full pumps and crank it over after 5 seconds. Even with a big vac leak due to leaky valley gasket it should try to fire. Try cranking and using easy start as well while cranking with the flaps wide open. It would have to be one hell of a vac leak to stop it at least firing for a couple of seconds before dying out.
If it does fire try to keep it going by doing short pumps of the throttle to keep fuel dribbling in while it warms a little.
If its a leak from the valley gasket on the inlet ports you can try spraying some wd40 onto the manifold flanges while its running as this will give a change to the engine note when you find the vac leak.
I can often see a cold cranking cylinder pressure as low as 90psi on a fresh engine build. But this normally settles at over 150psi after bedding in runs on the drag strip.

If you fancy a drive over to Milton Keynes around lunchtime you could grab an adaptor plate and come to Mikes to work on the Slingshot ??
