No the point was that if you force induct the Rover, its considered to be a 6L engine, so why not just buy a 6L engine and be done with it.
I'm not anti rover at-all, but seems madness that you could spend upwards of £10k on an engine to return around the same as something far cheaper.
Sure a new LS3 is £5k plus probably another couple of grand for ecu, loom and supporting gubbins - but its quite a bargain when compared to what you could spend on a RV8 at that power level.
The MSA (British Motorsport association) produce a rule book every year, commonly referred to as the "Blue Book", this has all the specific regulations for all classes of Motorsport, be it Circuit racing, Hillclimbing, Sprinting etc. The rally regs fall into three basic catagories, Group "N" which are production based cars, Group "A" which are more modified cars, and includes WRC's, and finally appendix "J" cars, which are basically, everything that doesn't fit into the other two catagories. This section of the book is called K.37, and in 2008 a massive shake up was implemented by the MSA, this was due to a few fatal accidents, and the upshot was, they got very concerned that in the new modern era, that Litigation would be a major factor, as they have to give every car a competition Logbook, in which an MSA approved Scrutineer comes and checks that the car is fit for use in competion and issues a logbook to that car, they thought that if someone was to be killed or seriously injured in a car they had deemed safe, they would bear the brunt of any court proceedings.
So the new K37 regs put a cap on cylinder capacities, this being 3000cc for multi valve engines, and 3500cc for engines with two valves per cylinder. This however only applies if the engine is taken from a "Production" car, specialist racing engines such as the Hart 420r, Millington Diamond and the V6 used in the Metro 6R4 have a lower limit, 2500 for multi, 3000 for 2 valves, hence I cannot go above 3500.
Furthermore, any engine that is Force inducted has to have an equivelency equation bestwed upon it, this is to make things fair, and in rallying it is 1.7 (Some discaplines like sprinting use an equivelency of 1.4), also, forced engines MUST run a restrictor, Group "A" and appendix "J" is no larger than 34mm, Group "N" 32mm.
I hope this clears up why I am favoring using the Rover engine, and was thinking that it shouldn't be that difficult to get 100bhp/lt, but maybe I am wrong.

Hi Peter, sorry if i spoke out of turn! I meant it that Keith's mate (Steve with the yellow camper) doesn't get any discount........or so he reckons to me anyway, I suppose I should get my facts in order before I put it in front of Mllions of people!

Does discount matter? - it's the work & price you pay that counts at the end of the day. Modifying heads depends an awful lot on the state & condition heads you start off with and where you want to go with them, so estimating the costs involved with the work can be pretty tricky and not really suitable for one off special jobs IMHO.
Peter & Keith do great work at very good prices, probably better just to trust them rather than try & pin down exact quotes, I've always been most pleasantly surprised TBH
well i would just like to say pete has looked after all of my mate's in one way or another including gunny(steve).
but as i always say to them to keep it to themselves,as gunny has done
and as for me, pete has been fantastic.he payed for most of my engine
which he helped build too.mind i did have to do it to his spec (which seems different to wot every1 else is doin in the vw scene) but with a exceptional power increase over all the other similar spec engines
