Hotwire EFI system.

Post by jenand40 »

Just fired up the Rover engine after installing Hotwire EFI system.
Is it normal for the engine to rev to about 2000 rpm on starting, even when hot, and then slowly drop back to about 1000/1200 rpm?
I cannot seem to get it to idle lower than that!
I understand the this system is adaptive, so will it sort itself out when driven, it is not taxed at the moment.
Thanks.
Andy.

Sounds like a sticky Idle Control Valve (or whatever they are called). Do they have an external air feed pipe you could pinch off to test?, or is it all internal?

Thanks Chris & SimplesSimon for your replies.
Chris you are spot on.
Replaced the idle control stepper motor with a new OEM one and problem solved.
On start up now revs to 1000rpm and then drops to about 600rpm.
Will now recheck the base idle.
Thanks again.
Andy.
