My cam break in really didn't go to plan...
So many noise complaints and angry old women come down to shout at me that the first 12 mins was done in 4 batches (and the cooling problem below)! One literally said my car sounded 'bloody awful and should be banned from London' lol. And my f***** girlfriend was useless and managed to let the engine idle for a few seconds despite frantic arm waving and shouting to kill the engine.
But the main problem is that it seems I messed up the non-radiator cooling loop and the thing overheated hugely so didn't run for long each time.
And now I have ran out of time and have to leave the engine for a few months before I ship it to Holland. Serves me right for trying to rush it I guess!
I'll have to start again from scratch when I have a workshop up and running in Holland. And while I am at it I might as well wait until the rear mounted rad, new wiring loom and other bits are done.
Will I have to relube the cam after a few months part way into the break-in period? All coated in oil now obviously and pressure was good.
Well that was a disaster!

Nope.... was bloody 2pm! Crazy old women.topcatcustom wrote:Oh dear, were you running it up at 11:30 last night?! I wouldn't take the cam out again, just try another 15-20 min session when you next get to start it, and sort the cooling out!!
Wasn't planning on taking the cam out... just wondering whether I'd need to pop the valley gasket off to get the red lube on if it will be a few months in-between.
Yeah when it's in Holland I'll have time to do the coolant system properly.
