R380 2 WD GEARBOX OIL

Post by BISH V8 »

Was hoping to use the Castrol smx-s 75/80 but for some reason they don't use it any more and has been changed to 80/90, I might go down the route in using the dif loc revolution 1 oil but seems to be very expensive, any ideals on what to use, don't want it to thick of oil..

Just found this info on Ashcroft transmissions site:

What oil should I use in my R380 gearbox?

We recommend MTF94 in your R380 box.

Ashcroft transmissions are pleased to now stock this quality 75W-80 for the R 380 gearbox, Fuchs Titan Sintofluid SAE 75W-80 For full… not sure about this but they seem to use it on the R380. I believe that the MTF94 people have been having problems with this oil, looking on the internet there is a lot of discussions on what oil seems to be best, seems that the diff loc reveloution oil seems to be the best, with Castrol smx next but they have now changed that oil to be thicker 80/90, MTF94 problems seems to be when cold its to thick until warmed up,so can damage the syncs..
