Chevy Flat Tappet - roller lifter conversion??!!

Post by Jono FD3 »

Hi guys, I was searching the net the other night and came across someone who had made there own retro fit lifters from the later style chevy lump components. Now from what I can see he has fitted the retaining spider in to the block by drilling and tapping the relevant fittings in to his pre roller block, and then dropped the factory roller lifter in and then fitted the retainers and spider over the top as you would normal roller cam block. Has anyone over here done this or is it a no brainer keep away from mod??

Reason I've been looking is because the retro rollers are mental money for what they are and if you can do the same mod for £100 then it's a no brainer if you don't mind doing a bit of work?!

Cheers
Jono

If you've already got a set of OEM roller lifters and the spider bar and the twin anti twist things then I can see where you can save some cash but if you have to buy all that stuff then a set of "conversion" roller lifters wouldn't cost much more in my opinion.

Difference of $100 or approx £60 compared to the work involved.
