I myself have been having dirty thoughts about changing to an ajp (tvr) v8 4.2..... All my work on my 4.9 rover with 300 heads on TBs, and I found myself thinking about selling the lot and buying for 2K a uses tvr lump and rebuilding this to go in my seven esque track car. Please guys convince me to stick with where my heart is (I love the old rover) or push me over the edge- what do you guys make of this engine- sorry to hijack this thread but the topic seemed to fit.

As said, big tyres sap huge amounts of power.
I'm running a 5.7 twin turbo driving 35 grabber MT's and you know it's sucking the power out of the engine - but they look good!

I'm still looking for a V8. What are your thoughts on this one? Too expensive? What do you think about the power claims for the spec. I've contacted him about the dyno print outs and he never requested a print out for either session Hmmmmm !!!!!

That link takes me to 'my ebay' page. Not yours. :D

Easiest way to link to an ebay item is

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/************ where ************ is the item number.

I did want somebody else to confirm it was a lot of money and not actually worth it.

TVR tax...
to be fair, it does include the DTA ecu - but even so..
Ask the seller what they are replacing it with - i bet the answer is an LS1.

the price and claimed power are both very optimistic, avoid and look for something that can make a real 300 bhp like a 5,3 LS or a ford mod engine.
best regards

Hi
The jag V8 in it's various disguises over 4 liters would make the power you want, they are cheap light and generally come with a nice 5 or 6 speed auto,

I read somewhere that the manual box from the 2.7 diesel bolts up to the v8. Not sure if that's true though.

I did see this, did some research and found out the engine isn't that reliable or robust.
