RR RV8 3.5 flapper, resistor and relays on engine bulkhead?

Post by Fed_up_Stag-owner »

Hi All

Recently purchased a non-running Range Rover RV8 with flapper, this resistor (with broken wire) is fitted in the engine bay on the driver's side bulkhead. Any suggestions as to function of the resistor please? Also associated relays adjacent?

I don't know for sure (not having a vehicle to compare with), but they all look a bit 'aftermarket' to me.

Chris.

Thanks Chris, you could be right. It is fitted with an aftermarket immobiliser, although I'm not certain what function that resistor would perform as part of an immobiliser. I'll replace it (assuming I can see the rating or measure the resistance),

I didn't realise that the fuel pump had a resistor, but a search on that internet confirms that there is one for the SD1 to reduce voltage to the pump for reduced noise. So that's something that I've learnt, thanks. Is this where the pump resistor would normally be located?

Hi,

Does Your Classic have A/C fitted? If so, those would be relays for that. The resistoe would be for a A/C blower under the dash.

Anyway that resistor is not for fuel pump and those certainly are aftermarket equipment.

It does indeed have aircon, possibly aftermarket according to the receipts. I disconnected the new (replacement) resistor and the fuel pump still ran when I pushed the flap in the AFM, so not a fuel pump resistor.
