Heres where the bottle is.
Pointing directly down onto the pump.
Here's the pump.
The top union is the inlet, this is now pointing the other way on the one on the car, this is the one fed by the bottle.
The bottom union is the outlet.
Heres the inards of the old pump, after looking at this i started thinking. The slits in the round part that rotates with the pulley house little pieces of steel which just sit in the slits in the round part. They can go in and out of their slots as they please as they litterally just sit in there, notice how they're all recessed? Could they, when combined with oil be suck inwards meaning they can't come out to move fluid and then generate pressure in the eliptical (is that the correct word?) housing they're in? If so do i just need to give it a rev?

They are free to move just very slickly and slowly due to the oil which if it were holding them inwards via suction then i guess they couldn't fly out to do their job. Theory at least.
I've just been looking at something i've been sent and it shows the pump in a different orientation, as if it were rotated clocwise 180 degrees.

Good site that cheers!
It got me thinking about this astra pump again, i'm going to give that a go i think. Its the same fittings in regards to pipework that i already have and its simple enough to rig up some wiring to see if it works.

Thats after one last attempt with the serp pump. One of the guys here has said there's a few vauxhall pumps that will only bleed up and build pressure if they're first run completely dry and with some decent revs to fling the vanes out inside the pump so i've completely dried out my old pump and the vanes now move very freely under their own weight so if this doesn't work nothing will!

Hmmm, well, i fitted the cleaned out pump with mixed results. At standstill and idle no difference but when pootling around it was much much lighter, wether that was because i was simply moving or i was getting assistance from the pump i don't know, my gut says pump.
Now, I can either jack this in or go for the elctric pump. I have managed to find an idler to go in place of the pump so that i don't have to faff around with belts and knurling the water pump pulley. It simply bolts onto the pump housing and has a shaft and bearing in it with pulley mount to which you bolt the pulley onto. It looks no different once fitted than if you had the pump still there, its from a tvr.
I have some of the electric pump specific fluid know at work as "green s**t" and the pipe unions are the same.
Shall i go for it or pursue the serp pump?
