4.2 tune up

Hi All
I have a 4.2 rover v8 in a tomcat weighing about 1500Kg (Guess) The engine was a new short engine and now has about 2500 miles on it. It has a standard cam 4.6 heads with tin gaskets large bore freeflow exhaust and K&N fliter. It has an automatic gearbox. its acceleration 0 to 60 is about 7.5 secs. I would like to race it but it needs to be faster. I also use it to play in the mud so would like to keep some of its low down
torque. It is road legal but is only used as a toy. what are the best performance upgrades for this engine?
