Cams, tappets and rockers (late rover V8)

Post by Zaphod »

I have starteted aquireing bits that will hopfully silence my engined tapping noise when warm.

So far I have a new Landrover camshaft and the parts to rebuild the oil pump should it need it as I have heard the anulus of this can crack but the pump will still producce enough pressure to turn the oil light off. And while its in bits I thought I'd be ready for this posiblity

But can anyone point me at the best place to aquire decent standard rockers form?

Much the same question on the tappets, best place to aquire them and I had noticed chevy and ford V8 tappets being sold for the rover engine?

Personally, if I want genuine parts, I use Rimmer Bros. Not the cheapest, but I get the choice of OEM or pattern parts, so I can make the call whether the money is worth spending.

Of all the aftermarket items I think the allmakes ones are the best, but as for shafts I am unsure myself which are the best all round. You can buy some very cheap, but the tolerances and quality of finish and tempering are very poor. Auto parts of Coventry sell quite a lot at ver low prices as they are a volume seller- OEM spec sets available.
Spent so much on trial and error!
