Rv8 4.6 cam ?

Post by wangie46 »

Rebuilding a 4.0 at the moment, nothing special just new rings, bearings, cam and lifters, all standard but a mate said to put the 4.6 cam in instead of the 4.0 cam as this will give better torque for the same price, is he right and will the 4.6 cam go in a 4.0 fine?

The 4.6 camshaft was the only Rover camshaft to feature an asymmetrical design. For all other capacities, the camshafts were symmetrical.

Given that configuration was created especially for the 4.6 litre engine, I cannot say what fitting one into the smaller 4.0 litre engine would achieve.

I tend to think that if Rover (Land Rover) had thought it beneficial, then they would have done so.
