Hi guys just a quick one to see what people would say is the best size pipe to use on the headers and exhaust pipework?!
I'm going to be making my own headers to run close to the block, down under the engine mount and then running ether side of the box with 2 small silencers, and then into a single 3" pipe with a 45 degree bend down towards the floor just after the end of the box! Nice short system with very little silencing so should be nice and shouty out on track!

Hi
sorry I am going to be difficult here, can you give me a little more idea of engine spec please. . . . .
I am running zoomies that are 2" diameter 1/16 wall, about 16" from the back of the valve. I am running a 383 on RHS 235cc inlet tract heads with 263 degrees duration and .645" of lift, and a red line of 7800 ish (at the moment) I am just aiming to get the gasses out as fast as possible, nothing more. I would also use these 2" primaries on a long primary tube cross over system (bunch of bananas).
If I was running 400 or even 425 hot road/mild race spec on headers and a 3" system I would stick with the 2" pipes
On a milder cam good heads and a 383 and a red line about 6500 then I would come down to 1 7/8 primaries I would also use these on a 350 on very good heads and a redline above 7500.
Otherwise it is 1 5/8 for me, especially if you are planning to use long tube headers to get a bit more torque from 350.
I hope that makes some sense.
I would recommend either a X pipe or a balance pipe.
best regards
Mike
