There would have been more space on the SD1 if it had been 4-1 especially in the left hand drive market.
Thats how I have my manifolds, but I have quite short primaties due to space restrictions, primaries are about max15" long, and others are less than 12" TBH I was more concerned with getting gentle curves out of the heads rather than equal length, and in reality my manifolds are not correct to the perceved ideas of design,
But what I do have is a very tractable engine that runs an absoloutly stupid TWR GrpA mechanical cam which by rights will be untractable on the street, and in reality will pull quite happily from 15mph in 5th to a max in excess of 140,
The 3.9 produces in excess of 285hp and I think 250ft/lbs, Another thing about the exhaust is the sound, it howls, The only other car that it sounds anything like that I have heard, dare I say it is Steve Greens old Cortina :D
