Chris, that old MGB is far from shabby, the old girl moves pretty well. Mike you are totally correct, a great weekend all round, lots to see and do and a PB to go with it, does it get any better?

Enough of the MGB bashing already ! :)

It was a good weekend eh folks... There was also an altered there running a rover V8. It had zoomies but was really quiet at tickover.

I still cant get over how straight the rail ran Alan. Smoooth!!

That is the strong suit of a dragster, all that wheelbase is there for a reason.

Let nobody knock the MGB to me, impressive through the traps is not the word.

Its taken me ages to reply Alan!!

I was hoovering in the bedroom and decided to flick the vac over the key board while it was firing up. Bad Idea!!!

Just been sifting through Henry's guts to find the enter key :)

Got me some new engine mounts today as well so I can copy them in steel and do away with the rubber.... ;)

The damage Report.

On the run after that shown, the engine stopped abruptly in the shutdown area. Stripped it down yesterday and the damage is not too bad really. Maybe 6 or so bent valves, two very bent and have a 1/8" gap from the seat. wo bent pushrods, 1 is S shaped. One snapped rocker arm. crank timing sprocket in three pieces and missing a few teeth and bizarrely all the flywheel bolts are loose which was the source of the clunking sound. Pushrods and rocker are stock items, we have loads of spares, valves are stock and again we have new spares. We also have a very nice vernier timing set to fit. Trying to think of a way to stop the flexplate bolts backing out, we use the RR classic adaptor with the counterbored Allen screws, beyond loctite I cant think of a mechanical method to secure it.

The allen screws? could be drilled and pinned or the flex plate bolts could be lockwired ?
So thats where it went !

Found one more wounded part, No. 7 Wrist pin is bent! No valve contact on this piston so must have been on power stroke when cam drive broke. Spares in the garage so time to put it back together.
