DIY Mapping?
Just got my motor running: Megasquirt, 4.2 RV8, MC1 cam, V8D Stage 3, 3 bar fuel. It sounds great but I'm fully aware the map from Phil (@extraefi) is just to get me started. To do some DIY mapping is it 'simply' a case of logging while driving around a bit, load it up into mega logviewer run the analyser and let that make some changes to the map then go again?
The car's not registered yet so I won't be covering much of the map. I really just need it ok to get through IVA emissions then I can get it on the road and do it better.
Oh yeah, I'm using a Tech Edge wide band and EDIS-8 too.
Any suggestions or pearls of widsom?
thanks
Mike

LOL yep that too!
Anywhere in Derbyshire that would work with MS?
Loads in the Westfield club use NMS but they're in Northampton.

I'm not sure what is disabled in the 'Lite' version. But both TS and MLV cost little for the full versions and worth every penny IMHO.seight wrote:OK, that looks like some kind of dark magic.![]()
Do I just need a full (i.e. paid for) TunerStudio and that's it? No Log Viewer unless I want to do some offline comparisons.

Yes, just need the paid version of Tuner Studio for VE Analyze Live, although you can tune your idling emissions with the lite version. The paid version of MLV is also useful.
VE Analyze Live in Tuner Studio is really cool, quite spooky. Just drive around and it auto adjusts the fuel map to close in on AFR targets you have set.
For IVA you will only need to have it idling I think? So as you have a wide band sensor you can just play around with the VE and Timing on your drive to get it idling for emissions.
Tom.

Sounds too easy to be true!
Phil setup my target AFRs so I'll go with that and see how I get on.
I think I've got to do a bit around the warmup enrichment though. Not sure if it was that or the fumes from the internal camcoat curing messing it up a bit on the first few starts.
Off to buy it now

I have the full version of Tunerstudio and agree with everyone else, its brilliant. VE Analyze live is excellent, and the super useful Warm Up Enrichment Analyze feature is in beta at the mo- I have used it on the landrover and it made a difference, I think I need another pass at it though.
That and you can make your own funky dashboards too

My mate is building a seight with a megasquirt. Essentially we are just tuning for the IVA, i.e idle and about 2000 rpm!
It actually failed the IVA the first time on hydrocarbons (4000 !!) with the hotwire ecu. we swapped for megasquirt and he's got a gas analyser and we are going to tune for the specific settings they need.
