Reversing an alternator

Post by JJMclure »

I should know the answer to this but...if you were to turn an alternator 180 degrees so the pulley was pointing to the rear of the car and therefore turning 'backwards' would it still work as in charge correctly?

I forgot about the fan, I suppose you could remove the fan and have some ducting to help provide some cooling?

Don't Honda engines rotate in the opposite direction to most others? I don't think they have special alternators.

Hi Rob
It could well be, I actually think if you are running the altinator below 80% load continiously there will be no issue, especially in the UK, Sahara of the Australian interior then maybe but uk, no problem.
Best regards
