Rover 3.9EFI Problems

I have a Land Rover Discovery 3.9efi which is abit sick , the faults are lumpy idling , does not pull very well seems to miss abit and is stuggling to pull a 1500kg caravan unless its left in 4th gear which produces very bad fuel consumption return.
Have had a new dizzy fitted , new HT leads , New dizzy cap / rotor arm , Fuel filter all fitted but still the same

Can anyone suggest anything to help me please

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon but could it be faulty injectors?

Sounds like a faulty sensor, probably making it run very rich.
Two options
- Get a fault finding manual which tells you how to check the sensors from the ECU multiplug with a digital multimeter
- Take it to a garage.

Sticking a gas analyser up it's rear end would tell you if it's incorrect fuelling.

Hi , Yes have tried the garage option , now £300 lighter in the pocket but still not sorted , the parts I listed were fitted by the garage to try and sort the problem , they plugged the diagonostics into there PC ,It showed no faults !!!
but the faults remain

Are you a Flapper - if so:

Your description of the problem indicates anything from unwanted airleaks or fault in the Efi wiring/connectors or some specific components such at a noisy throttle pot or faulty coolant temp sensor or even the AFM.

My bet is the throt pot because you are running lumpy and the Fuel consumption has gone high, typical Throt pot issues.

Although intended for the 3.5 flapper on an SD1 the following test program should help you if yours is also Flapper.

It will be hotwire as it's 3.9.

But the info Ramon has is the type of info you need, but for the 3.9.

Sounds very similiar to the problem I'm having at the moment.

It's looking like it could be the coil going on mine giving a weak spark when the engine is working hard.
