ROVER V8 ALLMAKES ROCKER ARMS AND SHAFTS QUALITY.
Have just taken delivery of 2 shafts and 16 rocker arms for my Rover v8.
They have as much clearance between them as my old and supposedly worn original arms.
Does anyone have the proper clearances to hand as I am sure these are sub standard?
On the same note ,is the rest of their stuff of the same 'ahem` quality?

Hi
From past posts (I have never bought these from this company) I think you will find this is pretty much standard for this company. You have a few choices. . . get non pattern old stock rover ones, which are of a much better fit. Get slightly over size shafts ground (if you know someone with a centreless grinder), or hard chrome the shafts you have, better still get original rover shafts that are a bit bigger (but not big enough) you will need to know someone who does good quality hard chroming . . . I do not mean wing mirror/ bumper chroming, I mean the sort used for 2 stroke cylinder bores using slipper pistons/ motorcycle front forks/ brake caliper pistons etc or rebush the rockers to the size to match the shafts, you could take the opertunity to bore them out a bit over size for the bushes and bush them off centre and gain a bit of valve lift
Best regards
Mike

Hi Cammy, I bought a set of HD shafts and rockers from "V8Tuner" and found them to be fine - no problems whatsoever.
The guys name is Paul, if you get his answering machine leave your number he WILL get back to you - well he always has with me though it could be later after closing time.
Regards Mike-b

Cool, thanks. It's just that these will be going straight to NZ so if they aren't right, i'll be pretty fooked.mike-b wrote:Hi Cammy, I bought a set of HD shafts and rockers from "V8Tuner" and found them to be fine - no problems whatsoever.

i have seen worn rocker arms and shafts and would not want these on my V8. I have read the experiences that it will influence oil pressure in a negative way but i am curious to know what the reason is as the rocker arms are always pushed upward by the valves and/or push rods so in theory there would not be clearance where the oil feed is. If you look at worn rocker shafts, you will only see wear on the underside, not on the upper side. Anybody has some thoughts about why oil pressure is lost?
