Custom Exhaust System - Recomendations ?
All, I have a race MGB V8 for which I need a complete custom exhaust including manifolds. Has anyone got any recommendations of who to use, ideally in the south east.

Not southeast, but Lance at OJZ Engineering. Superb work, although you'll need to book a few weeks ahead of time because of the quality of the work, he's in demand.
More southerly...Goodfabs, Simpson race exhausts, Hayward and Scott ?
There will be dozens of potential places though. In my experience, avoid anyone who goes by the franchise Powerflow. Ive never seen anything of good quality from them yet.
Although it's not nice to generalise, as I'm sure out there somewhere there is a competent fabricator selling their product. Somewhere.... Although their product is also of ow quality.

There is no generic price. Every car will be different, with different boxes and amounts of time/fabrication.oneaves2005 wrote:Thanks guys, what was the price from OJZ?
I have had a couple of prices ranging from £1200 to £4500 + vat !!!!!
Ollie
Give him a call to discuss.
£4500 is mental though unless it's titanium or something

Thats a mighty fine system right there !! A bloody work of art to be honest
Why did it have to be made that way? Have you got non original suspension up front?
Is this for side zoomies or cobra sidepipes?
Whats the plan for the rest of the system?

Hi, because the suspension is low at the front (standard-ish MGB suspension) we can only have one pipe going under the chassis leg. If we had the collector in the wheel arch then the tyre would rub on full lock.....
The rest of the system is not that exciting, the 2 pipes merge to one near the rear of the floors and then into a single rear exit silencer as per the championship regulations.
It was a struggle to get the long primaries we wanted but to be fair, they did a great job.
The primaries are around 35" long from memory.

I have RV8 headers on mine with the collectors chopped out to 3" for the downpipes. I have a 3" bend facing backwards and then a 45 bend to bring the pipe out just under the sill at the front. I dont have any issues with the tyre fouling the downpipe. But the max ground clearance you can get with this combo is about 4".

I really wished I had gone to Powerspeed in Kent as has a very good reputation. I came close but did not.
PM me for my experience of Simpsons Exhausts in Slough.
