Does anybody have a timing cover like the one on the left in the pic below.
Looking to drop a 4.6 into my Rover P6 and think i may have clearance issues.
Thanks.
Haven't got one but the one on the left looks like one from the last of the interim 3.9 engines that went to North America.
Or it is possibly the 4.0/4.6 type cover with a bolt on angled oil filter housing.
The UK version of the interim 3.9 covers will have a dizzy hole machined and the camshaft sensor hole will be blank.

The P6 sump won't bolt up up to a 4.6 type cover . (1 Extra bolt)
It will bolt up to a UK 3.9 interim cover.
If you are using a dizzy you will need a UK 3.9 interim cover and a camshaft with a dizzy drive at the front and the interim type crankshaft pulley.
The water pump needs to run counter clockwise so belts need to be rearranged.
The angled filter housing on an interim 3.9 cover is about 1/2" lower than the equivalent P6 housing.
Hope this helps,

Both covers are GEMS / THOR covers. I believe that the first versions of the cover are the one on the right, as fitted to P38 Range Rovers. I think when the Disco II came out, they needed the angled piece, so all the covers changed to have some threaded holes added so the angled piece could be fitted. On my THOR P38 Range Rover, I have the cover with threaded holes, but without the angled piece....
