New Ignition Options?

Post by Simeon »

In my Westfield I currently have a Mallory Dual Point dizzy fitted to my Edelbrock carbed 3.5 RV8. It runs great however I can see problems down the road with points.

What options do I have to go pointless? I really want something plug and play with little or no wiring changes.

Ask Real steel if the do a conversion for your dissy?

I use the mallory unilite infra red dissy in mine and also have got the magnetic trigger type as well.

Thanks for that, I'll give RealSteel a ring.

Cheapest option is probably a Lucas DLM dissy which you should be able to get with the correct advance curve for your particular engine - if standard. They can be bought new - but I'm told they are copies and not very good, so a decent second-hand one would be best. And keep a spare amp handy.
As regards wiring, they only require one extra wire over points - power from the +12v side of the coil.

It's a much cheaper option than a new Mallory electronic - and works at least as well.
