v8 1976..ish

Post by oilyfingers »

Hi guys
I have a old v8 3.5 engine from a 1971 landrover sitting in a custom built frame to get it running as a small project but its not willing to start. I need to check firing order but cannot find any reference regarding this. Do any of you have a diagram showing firing order please. Any ideas where i could find engine number on this? Many thanks....terry

The firing order is 18436572.
Looking at the front of the engine No1 is the nearest to you on the right side. So the right hand side is 1357 and the left side is 2468.

The engine number should be on the block where the dip stick tube enters the block.

At risk of stating the blindingly obvious, once the leads are fitted to the correct places on the distributor cap and then on to the correct plugs, you still need the distributor rotor to be facing the No1 terminal under the cap.......
Ask me why this is so obvious, yet worth mentioning.....
Cheers,
John
