Megasquirt injector wiring

Post by Automania »

Hi I'm just wondering what method people used to connect the injector wires together. Is cutting the insulation, and soldering the second wire onto it the best way, or is there a better one? Cheers mike

I built my loom so that the engine loom can be disconnected from the main loom if taking the inlet manifold off. However due to my LPG injection project I still have no permanent connector on there and am using... eeek! chocolate blocks! This is temporary and has been so for the last 6 months or so!

However I have each injector ground wired individually back to where the plug will be, and then will simply buy a connector chunky enough to allow me to put two wires into/onto each terminal of the plug.

So the engine side has eight earths going in and the ECU side will then have four wires coming out.

I figured that doing it this way means that my insulation is not broken along the length of the wire, and also that if I want to upgrade to MS3 or something later and go sequential I can.

You would simply add the appropriate 4 extra wires to the ECU side of the loom and re-terminate the connector to engine loom as required.

I think...

Lucas used a crimped and soldered joint on my original EFI flapper loom so I just did the same. A blue crimp with the insulation removed was about right for my cable sizes. Then sleeved it with heat shrink after soldering - but of course it is within the loom covering too.

Since there are 2 terminals per injector driver on the MS this just meant two injectors to one drive cable.

Did the same with the +12v feeds and grouped them together at the main relay.

Incidentally, I changed the grouping from the original Lucas to:-

Not sure if it makes any difference. :D
