just a thought, how heavy do you think this car will end up? just I think you may find that your choice of torque converter and final drive ratio and rear tires may need some consideration. It would probably worth a visit to one of the POP forums and see what they are running with 350 bhp and a TH400. J's car, frankenescort, is running about 370 on gas on a th350 (same ratios) and, I think a 3.44 rear end with 29" tires and that seems to work, it is about 1 ton or so I am not sure what stall he runs on the converter.
J can you enlighten Mr 100ev8 here.

I'm nearly finished my LS1 Minor project after quite a few set backs - 1998 Camaro 5.7 with 4l60, 26 inch tyres and a 3.1 - 1, 9 inch with tru track lsd.
I hope it all works
and hope to be out this summer.
I reckon on weight being around a ton, so should be relatively nippy. Engine is standard with cats removed, egr eliminated and ECU adjusted to suit.

I'll be trying it out at Crail raceway which is local to me. It's not the best strip in the world as it is just the old WW2 runway surface. Fastest things to run there were some straightliner bikes - mid 8's I think. It's not really suitable for really quick cars - high 9's is the fastest I've seen.
Local fast hot rods won't use it though (there are a few local that do the national series), but I'm hoping for 12's once acclimatised to it, which should be ok - hopefully. I reckon it may have potential with a standard engine for 11's, but a Minor has a very short wheelbase, so this may not be possible
I also hope to attend the various Morris Minor rallies around the country, and perhaps all going well, some of the RWYB events down south.

there are people in Glasgow who would be interested in seeing me run (when I get going) and I was trying to think of a place to run that was as close as possable, (york so far is the furthest north I can think of). Probably not ideal with what I hope will be a sub 9 second car and only the back wheels with brakes! though a good excuse to try out the 'chute
. It looks a pretty spot, I do like that bit of the coast.

I don't think I would risk a full pass with your car. There have been a few real quick cars here, but they only did the 1/8th before shutting off (wheelspinning all the way).
There is reportedly a new strip being created in Ayrshire which will be to a proper standard, but I think there are planning problems.
Crail is fine on a sunny day (rare), but if the wind blows (normal) it is very chilly even in summer.
My mate regularly runs low 9's on his bike there, but bikes are different to cars - I feel safer on my bike
despite the spinning and wheelies.
I know a guy with a 30's hot rod that had to back off gently otherwise the rapid weight transition caused rear end problems, and he was reluctant to go again due to limited run off.
I'm sure he was in the nines.

Crail is a nice venue. Slippery, but still nice. I was there a few weeks ago for the first time in about 5-6 years !! Didnt realise it had been so long. Will hopefully get over again this year once or twice.
IMO the worst part for a quickish car isnt the stopping distance, it's the very bumpy surface in the braking area. Distance would be plenty if it was smooth.

It's maybe worth noting that AK Sportscars (the kit supplier I'm getting my Cobra kit off) sell an adapter to mate the Getrag 265 manual box to the LS engine. It's the way I'm going. They were used by Jags and some 80's beemers and I think some Opels... (and the Jags formed the main doner for the Cobra kit, so it made sense to reuse the 'box...) If it is light duty, then you could take a gamble on a T5, you might be able to do that for under £1k.
But really, the T56 that bolts to the LS engines makes the most sense. get one in good nick and you will not break it. And it already has bellhousing etc to bolt straight up.
But I doubt you'll get one for under £1k unless you're very lucky. You could of course try the same guys that were selling the 5.3's though, as they may
have contacts.
I'd just opt for the older 2001 era Camaro box same as I am using. For some reason, they seem less prone to problems than the Monaro/GTO versions.
From a simplicity point of view...I'd just pay whatever extra you need to get a T56
I got mine for £450 with the propshaft off the 'bay, search for "jaguar getrag gearbox" there are a few on at the moment...
The adapter is around £300, IIRC.
