Which ECU

I am changing from Carb/distributor to Throttlebodies/coilpacks and am trying to decide which ECU to use.
My Local Rolling Road man is suggesting a DTA as he is familiar with them.
Looking through their range I quite fancy the S80 Pro as it has an inbuilt traction control feature (needs 4 wheel speed sensors). Price is about £1k
Anyone using a similar setup? Is it worth the money?

How does it do the traction control? If it just senses wheel slip and cuts the power to all, is that any real use?

MegaSquirt tends to be the DIY choice since everything about it is open source. But if you don't intend doing anything DIY (including any tuning) best to stick to the recommendation of the firm you choose to do it for you.
But you'll need deep pockets...

The traction control works by monitoring wheel speeds between driven and undriven then cuts spark to 1 cylinder at a time when needed. You can adjust the level of interference from the dash.
Over 300bhp in a light car gets a bit scary on a wet slippery track and the back can break away violently in a split second. Would be nice to control the level of interference from the TC.
Planning to fit the hardware and get it started then hand over to have it mapped on a rolling road. Been quoted £400 to set it up.

I'd guess it would be an extremely expensive job fitting wheel speed sensors? (I've never looked into it) Unless the car had an ABS option at some point.

These sensors mounted close to brake disk mounting bolts might work?
Although heat might be an issue.

I was more thinking of the difficulty of fitting a toothed wheel of some sort?

RaceLogic does a Traction Control System that I have fitted to my car (that also has a MegaSquirt ECU). However I also have ABS (as it is s Sierra donor that made it easy) but it is easy enough to fit wheel sensors.

It's about £2200 + to have it dynoed with all harness ecu triggers etc.

For what reasons is the Omex better than other ECU's?
The DTA S80 pro is about £900

So is the omex ecu. It's the ancillaries n labour to set it up which costs the monies. A good reputable dyno session is circa £600 for a start off

You need more than a blank ecu for it to work and good quality plugs wires etc
