Well tbh your best off listening to stevie as he has alot more super charger knowledge than me, and as he said i wouldn't under estimate the forces,
i would try and keep it ali if i was you as its an ali blower and an ali block? so makes sense to keep it all the same.
10/15/20mm ali is no problem to cut, less you think the forces are going to be massive then maybe look at 15mm steel but it will weight a tonne...

can pm me if you prefer
i was going to get the brackets (steel) powder coated black to split the ally up under the bonnet.
OR. do the bracket to the engine in 15mm steel, the one round the charger in ally?

im not confusing things am i lol.
if you can let me know the over all size and also how many holes of what size then i can get a price to you, and also which thickness in each material i will work out a price.
if they are small enough to fit in a scanner you could scan them an e mail me the image.

My own bracket is heavy !
But the front one doesn't need to be thick as the doubled up structure makes it string. It also doesn't really have the same loads on it as the main one bolted to the block which I presume is much larger. An additional brace is a good idea too. But I really don't think you'll need a lot of tension on the belt with your setup. So from that a thinner main bracket is doable.
Or for weight do a 15mm alloy main bracket with 8 or 10 front. Then its easy anodised to look nice. Or drilled for idlers if needed. Although best to get Ralph to slot holes for those.

I know it's just there temporarily. But ensure you have as much belt wrap around the blower pulley as you can. From what I can see of the existing belt path it is not enough.
And again for the main rear bracket. Consider where the fixings are and the distance the actual pulley is from that. That's the leverage the belt will have when it is tensioned.
The front bracket is smaller and doesnt have these loads. it just has the belt tension to cope with but that's pretty small as the idler will be very close so very little leverage on it.

theres a second idle gear near the other idler mate to put max wrap on the charger and to put enough back onto the bottom pulley

Yep, all looks good. Could even push the idler towards the blower more for even more wrap.
The more wrap the less tension you'll need which just makes it easier on everything. Although the large pulley will also help that.
Making good progress anyway

Not sure how to work the loads out. Yes it is pulling against it, but dont think it's as hard as it sounds.topcatproduction wrote:There's going to be a lot of stress on the lower idler, the crank will be trying to pull the belt in a straight line from the blower pulley which is why the single idler on big blowers is always on the "loose" side.
Just make sure it's strong enough!
But as it's bolted very close to the bracket and it is still a relatively small blower with a large pulley, I think it should be fine.
Idlers are usually on the loose side as as drive is applied, this side can become even looser and the belt needs the most additional support there. Especially on a setup where there are long belt runs with no support.
I had serious problems with mine until I added idlers to control belt movement. I added idlers on both sides.

right been pulling my hair out trying to get this blower to fit in the small space of the cappa bay,
tried mounting it low it fails the anri roll bar and chassis,
if i try to mount it higher i need to space the pulleys to line up, BUT there not enough room between the bottom pulley and cross member,
tried mounting it on the drivers side it may fit with some fetling of the alternator bracket but then i have no where to make a braket for the charger to bolt to,
Ideally i could do with selling this paxton and getting a smaller body charger
ideas?
or a second pair of eyes and another head to scratch that may see something im missing etc,

Depends on the model. Most Vortech's will be pretty big too. Rotrex is the smallest...but they also only have small airflow ratings. I think the biggest is something like 400hp.Coops wrote:the problem is the charger is physicaly big in size mate,
