Post by minorv8 »

I have a 4,0/4,6 litre type crank with the following markings cast in the crank: " Rover", "4.5" and HRC2370.

The question is: what engine was it fitted in ?

( I have both 4.0 and 4.6 cranks for comparison, definitely the same typ of casting)

It is indeed offset ground but to 91 mm stroke, big ends are 2 inch and TVR 500 width at about 38,80 mm wide. It is definitely not a 4.0 casting because the marking 4.5 is cast (exactly like 4.0 or 4.6), not stamped.

I assume it was machined from a raw casting.

At the start of the Thor programme they cast 4.5 cranks and 4.5 plenums with 4.5 cast in the lid. I stumbled across several on my travels :)
