Engine secure on the garage floor, gearbox hanging on a strap, warm garage, plenty of room to move about..pure luxury. Bet you had a clean tea-cup too !

No, it would spoil the acoustics for the string quartet in the corner.

Yep done that.

The last time I had the near side on the kerb with me lying in the gutter. It started to pour with rain & I ended up with water going in at the collar & out at the ankles.

Got the job done though! :D

My brother once changed the clutch on his Austin A95 in France by the roadside - himself.

I was fitting a tow bar to an old motorhome that I owned, it was Christmas eve, about 7pm and 1 degree above zero, I was lying under the van on a sloping drive and I was drilling a hole with a big drill bit, red hot swarf was falling on my face, it was pi55ing down and water was running down the drive and down my back. The final straw was grabbing the mains lead and getting a massive shock from it!

Basically I was freezing, burnt, wet, and electrocuted all at the same time! :?

Absolute luxury..One night in the dead of winter with snow 10' thick, middle of the moors, no moon and -30C, I was cold and hungry, dressed only in shorts and T shirt, my big-end went. Fortunately I had a spare set in the ashtray together with a broken penknife in the toolbox. No jack but still I managed to put the new set in and get home. Don't know what hard is some of you.
