72mm plenum

Post by DaveEFI »

I've been given a 72mm plenum. :)

My engine is a standard 3.5 apart from Stage 1 heads , and uses a Megasquirt, so no AFM. What would be the pros and cons of using this - obviously with a larger air filter and trunking?

Hi
in favour, if the standard throttle body causes a restriction at full throttle then it will reduce that restriction. Against, if however the standard throttle body is not the cause of any restriction at full throttle then it will make the throttle less precise in that it will be effectivly at full throttle before full travel of the pedel (full opening of the plate).
It is unlikley that the existing throttle plate causes any real restriction to your engine unless it has stage 3 heads, headers, radical cam. As you have the thing and want to fit it then do so, and live with a less precise throttle, but it would not have been a part I would have fitted to a mild tuned engine.
Best regards

Thanks Mike - it's what I sort of guessed. Is it of any use to anyone here?

Would it be of any benifit for my SuperCharged engine.

My Engine is 4.3 and when running std AFM and plenum it made approx 270 bhp so dont think there would be a restriction on a 3.5

regards
Reg
