PCV SET UP, Thoughts on my proposed set up...

Post by Loz V8 Capri »

Hello all,

Firstly Id like to think that I've done my homework as I wouldn't want a repeat thread.

In light of a new 3.5 SD1 engine about to be fitted to my Capri I have decided to install a PCV setup. My previous P6 engine simply had a breather on each of the edelbrock rocker covers.

After researching the subject I have since discovered that my Webber 500 carburetor has the PCV port blocked on the front - not a simple thing to remove as it has been capped with a ally stud which is almost flush with the carb, I suspect it was like this from new...?

So, this leaves me with 3 options. 1- drill it out and fix in a new pipe ( don't fancy this) 2. Have one of the rocker covers linked into the underside of the air filter ( have read this isn't ideal due to lack of vacuum and oil build up) 3. Have one of the rocker covers linked to the port on my edelbrock performer intake manifold ( my brake servo is currently linked to this so was thinking about putting a T piece in- would this work ok?

On top of this I know I would need a flame trap followed by a PCV valve in line and just a breather on the other rocker cover.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Laurence

It's usual to have the intake more or less in line with the carb butterfly, so you don't get excessive vacuum with the throttle closed.
