Merlin head torque settings

Post by kokkolanpoika »

Hi.

We need torque settings for Rover v8 merlin F85 heads??
We use composite gasket + original merlin ARP bolts + ARP lube..

Can we use STD 3.5L V8 torque settings? approx 90-95Nm
STD 4.6L 20Nm +90deg +90deg sound too tight for us..

Thanks..

My heads are Rover so this may not help but I went for 75ftlbs with my ARP studs and ARP lube. Some people have had the threads pull out of the block at 70 ftlbs so its up to you!

Also note that the ARP washers have a small marking stamped into them, I made sure that this faced the head, not the nut, lube up the thread and the washer.

Merlins have bolts and with these the chamfer on washers need to face the bolt head. As for torque setting, I think the RS instructions may have mentioned something ? If not, I used Rover head values. Can't check that now, have to spend next two weeks in a sailing boat with the wife. Oh what man has to suffer to score some time in garage ...
