Throttle distance from inlet trumpets?

Post by SuperV8 »

Is there an optimum distance for the throttle plate from the inlet trumpets?

Supercharged rover V8, looking at re-positioning the throttle in front of the plenum something like in the photo:

Is too near or too far bad?
How about fixing the throttle body directly on the front of the plenum?
Is there a rule of thumb?

Thanks,
Tom.

Hi
there is an optimum, but it is not easy to calculate and a basic rule is put it where you can fit it. I would not mount it directly on the plenum wall as it would be a pig to get good outflow from it. If you can I would try and use the existing casting at the back of the throttle body it will give you a good transition to the plenum itself. try and keep the distances down from the throttle plate, without compromising the transition into the plenum.
best regards
Mike

Thanks Mike,
I will try and fit as best as I can but won't fit it directly to the plenum.
