Hi..
One question.
My engine is low milage rover 4,6 stage 3 and i have got range rover 89-efi oil pump.
And i have got some question. My car is sd1 vanden plas.
I just notice when i start the engine in cold weather say +7C deg. My lifters say accidental about 2second rak rak, and then it stops.
I use castrol 20w50 oil, and just change my oil 15w40 type (only a testing/cleaning time i use this 15w40)
My cold oil pressure with bouth oil at idle (+7deg) is about 15-20lbf/in2 is this normal cold oil pressure?
When engine warms about say +40-50C deg then oil pressure is about near 30lbs/in2 at idle.
Is this normal or is my oil too thick in this +7C deg weather?
Or is my oil pump caput?
When engine is normal temparature +80-90C deg idle oil pressure is about 20lbf/in2 and maxium is near 40lbf/in2 @ ~3000rpm?
cold oil pressure?

I have a similar engine setup, but with an MGB oil pressure relief spring fitted. Cold start, 45-50psi. Hot idle - 18psi. Hot, 2200rpm, 50psi. This is with 20W50 oil. I am careful when cold not to rev engine to a point where the oil pressure increases above 65psi, to prevent pumping up of the lifters.
