I have got new retainers and crane cams douple valve spring´s for my RV8.
And inner spring inside diameter vs retainer corner radius is tight fit.
My local race engine builder advise me to grind tenderly slightly material for inner valve spring to give smooth and flat arangement.
Here is the idea, but i can do it for Dremel etc..

So is it safe to grind those valve spring?
Our race engine builder says that he always do this modification every spring depending retainers with or without radius of those corners..
Any idea´s?

Hi
inside the spring should be fine, but have the grinding wheel spin along the line of the coil, not across it. Do not take off more than the absolute minimum. Also when finised putting on the bevel, pollish the grinding marks with very fine emery following the direction of the coil of the spring.
Best regards
