Help Needed Fitting An Edelbrock Carb & Manifold

Post by 4.2 tr7 »

Hello I'm new to the forum but already i find myself in need of assistance, I've just bought myself an Edelbrock 500CFM carb and inlet manifold for my 4.2ltr range rover engined TR7. Could anyone who's fitted one of these please give some advise on the choke cable and accelerator fitment. I was told when i bought the carb that it was an easy fit and would require little work to get it working using my existing cables. Any pictures to show where all required connections go would be a massive help

Hi 4.2 tr7,

I can't claim to know these carbs, but Edlebrock does have installation manuals available online: http://www.edelbrock.com/tech/index.html

Specifically...

http://edelbrock.r-catalog.com/ImgVD/ED ... 091410.pdf

The pictures aren't great, but should help a little figuring out what goes where.

Hi ,

i have a weber kit fitted to my rover ,its really the same as your carb.i only have a choke and a throttle fitted and also the gearbox kick down ,but that mounts from the throttle bracket.

is it the pipes you are finding hard to locate or the cables.
here is a photo of the carb on my car.the choke cable is just hidden under the vac pipewith the throttle cable on the left.

i hope this can help you

I'm sure I've seen your mini before, did you have it at a mini show at Donnington about 6/7 years ago then took it to a run what you brung at York dragstrip? The contest was supposed to be mini's v's v.w's I think, I know it's going back some years but It was a good day. I had a beetle at the time don't ask why I don't know either and my mate was and still is lovin' his mini's currently building a plastic one with a space framed front end housing a suzuki swift engine (no v8 tho), highlight of the day was watching a mini beat a cossy down the strip, very funny. Anyhoo thanks for the pic helped loads, I take it the pipe running from the front of your manifold is a breather for your brake servo? also the breather that runs from the rocker cover to the carb have you blocked off the front and fitted the hose to the back of the carb? Thanks again, also thanks to you Rich as well, Phil.

hi,

Yes thats correct on the servo hose. the pipe from the rocker goes to the bottom of the air filter plate.i have fitted the two smaller pipes from the rockers to the back of the carb.dont know if thats correct but it seems to have had no problems so far.
