Anyone fitted the Edelbrock Chrome rocker covers to their Rover v8. I bought some of ebay to brighten up my old lump, but they don't fit. They came with adapter plates, so the bolt holes all line up, but the underneath part of the breather holes hits the rockers. Do I cut this away or have I got the wrong part (Says Rover on the box! )
Why are the simple jobs always complex and the ones you worry about turn out simpler...
Thanks
TimN
I had a pair of Edelbrock signature rocker covers on my lump a while back. Never had any problems with fouling though??
Mine did not have anything undet the breather holes. I just had the Edelbrock breather / filler caps fitted.
The main problem you will have is oil leaking from between the steel adaptor plate and the heads. Normally at the rear of each head just above the spark plugs.

Thanks - I'll take a photo of the underside. There are 2 fins under each breather hole. Maybe I just need to remove them - I'll have another look and maybe contact Edelbrock
With the steel adapter plates couldn't you put gaskets under both the plates and the covers to stop any leaks?
Maybe that will lift it enough to not foul the underside too
You do need to put gaskets under the plates and the covers.

I just checked in the garage and the ones I bought (off ebay ;-( are for a chevy not a rover as the numpty on ebay claimed. What are my chances of a refund... We'll see.
The Chrome covers should be for a yank motor. Typically a Chevy. The adaptor plates should be Chevy to Rover / Buick.

You're right. The adapter plates fit the Rover v8 I have, it's just the covers that are wrong as these Chevy ones have baffles under the breather holes.
If I can't get a refund I'll just have to cut them off.
Edelbrock don't make valve covers for Rover v8s. The ones sold to you are Chevy fitment. That's why you were sold adaptors with the valve covers. The adaptors are not an Edelbrock part they are made by people here in the UK in order that the Edelbrock Chevy fit valve covers can be used on the Rover engine. Hope this clears things up for you.
Hi
you could leave the covers intact, throw away the adaptor plates and the rover engine and fit a proper V8 sounds like a good plan to me

Ignore Mike, he should not be allowed on our ROVER V8 forum anyway!
(I know that's not what the forum is called but that's what it should be called!)
The Covers should fit
Have you got a gasket from head to converter plate and another from converter plate to cover?
Covers normally about 4mm thick

In comming!
This is from a man who doesn't know how many wheels a racing vehicle should have, how many people it should take to drive it around a track and where his bum should be whilst trying to control the thing, this man is barking ! ! ! !
The chevy small block is the most manufactured engine ever for a good reason.
