Land Rover Discovery Choice!
Hi guys, I want to upgrade my old disco ('98) to a newer model, we have had both Disco 2's and 3's in the family before, but with my budget I could afford a perfect Disco 2 with extras, or a base model 3 with a few more miles on the clock (probably just over 100k).
Would you think it's worth going for the newer model which is 100% different from the original- a completely different animal, or am I best to find a lower mileage old shape one would you think?
I'm thinking get a 3, as they are bigger and better in about every way (apart from potential repair bills- not that they should go wrong as much!), I know the older ones very well but they are starting to look a little old now!
Opinions welcome!

Lower mileage fully loaded perfect D2. Every time.
Having owned a late facelift D1a 3.9v8 (which for the purposes of this discussion is basically the same as a D2), and driven a friends shiny new at the time D3. I was very glad to have my D1a! The D3 felt very constricted inside, everything about the interior seemed to feel very 'upright' and small. My D1a felt sooo much bigger inside and was much easier to converse with my rear passengers. The D3 had some nice electrickery extras and the cruise control actually worked but if, you can find a good, well looked after late model D2 I'd have that any day over a D3. I was in to green laning and off-roading then and the potential repairs and upgrade costs of the D1a made it a clear winner on that front too. I think the later D2's, with the bigger headlights and fully loaded interiors don't look dated yet either, I had an XS model so it had every extra going (must've cost around £30,000 when new!!
) and it felt quite modern inside. A D2 would be even better. I had LPG on mine and it made it cheaper than running the TD5 engine too. All round winner!
If you've previous experience with both I suspect you know all this already, just my

We have had D2's before and my parents just got an 08 D3, and they are 100% different vehicles I know!
I'm just wondering though how long it will be until the D2's start to rust and rot, sunroofs start to leak, wiring goes on the blink etc as all these things are wrong with my D1 and they are very similar vehicles...
