Engine finished at last. (Pics eo follow)
Well, after nearly 18 months of saving and starving I have at last finished building my RV8. The bores had honing marks so the pistons etc were good but just about everything else was shot. So decided to do a bit of mild tuning while I was at it. Fully gas flowed 3.9 heads, waisted vittesse valves, piper 285 ultimate road cam, double valve springs, new cam bearings/big ends/mains and crank re-ground, new timing chain with steel gears, drilled the little holes in the block to help lubrication. It's a carb engine so polished the dash pots and the rocker covers (by hand) then painted the rest yellow, to match the car. Will be doing the mods to the carbs at a later date. Just got to hope I put it together right.

Is that powder coated or hand painted? I had an MX5 the same colour years ago, had to sell it as people questioned my sexuality

That's kind of where I've been for at least a year! I love the look you've achieved though, very swish!marcjagman wrote:The worst part is when you start, thpughts of what have I started, will it never end and so on go through your mind.

The rocker covers are a particularly nice touch, the painted grooves and polished ridges and sides is how I want to do mine so it's nice to see how they look in advance, and they look goooooood!!

I'm a carer on £54/week so just save when you can, but a bit when you can then when you have enough bits build your engine.Cavman wrote:That's kind of where I've been for at least a year!
