Lt77 gearbox, cant get into reverse

Post by martyn123 »

Hi,

Marcos car rebuilt so lt77 gearbox sitting for last 3 years, fresh oil in.

I can drive forward in gears but just can't get it into reverse, assume lift and push forward over 1st gear, i cured a slight leak on the clutch slave cylinder to banjo bolt yesterday so bleed system freshly done,

Hoping there's no problem with the internals of the box and i can do some adjustments to sort it, note i have never driven the car so have no previous experience with this box but it came with car and no problems highlighted when i bought it,

Regards,

Martyn.....

No lift, just a hefty shove. I had an op on my shoulder a few years back, and I can only get mine in reverse by pushing it with my right arm.

Had this problem in mine a while back, turned out that the bearing that the shifter slots into was fouling and wouldnt move far enough to reach over.
I had caused the issue by changing the linkage though,

Just slap the shifter to the left (further over than first gear) & forward.

Sorted,

It was nothing more than the reverse switch screw screwed in to far, phew i was having sweats re the thought of having to take engine/gearbox out again,
