Does (or could) anyone have a SD1 SU linkage photo?

Post by Magicdrshoon »

I've had an issue with my landie which has had an SD1 V8 retro fitted with LPG where only the LPG would work.

I suspected the carbs (twin HIF 44), and as I want to go through the landie gradually fixing her up, I thought I'd take them off and rebuild them.

My suspicion was correct, most things that should've moved, didn't!

So after rebuilding them, following all the info documented in the SU manuals, I found one piece of valuable information missing... how to link the two carbs together. I have a plate with a ball-joint on which I can't figure out how it fits to the carb.

To be fair I only spent about an 30mins trying at the end of the day, when my patients weren't at their best. However I don't get that much time to work on the ol' girl, so if someone has a Rover SD1 enging fitted to anything with the twin HIF 44, could you possibly take a pic and post it on here please?

Either that or point me towards where I could find the info. If it is in a manual somewhere, I don't mind buying the manual as long as I know it's in there!

Thanks for your help.

Will take one for you tomorrow mate,
I have twin HIF44 on my new engine, and have just finished fitting to a range rover.

Hi mate, photos as promised, took them from another spare rangerover as I couldn't be arsed to take my air cleaner off again!

It is quite awkward to take photos behind the carbs so I took one of a spare carb I have as well.

Hope it helps,
Olly

That's great. Thanks a lot!

The wife had me laying a wooden floor over Christmas, so everything in my garage has a layer of sawdust (it was raining when I needed to cut up the wood!), so everything needs cleaning before I can get back onto it.

I'm sure these pics will help me out, so thanks again!
