With a stud kit fitted, it is easier to spring the manifold onto the studs then fit the nuts, no risk to the threads in the head.
Might need to fit the manifold, then start the nuts and work them into position, my manifolds on my RR classic have a couple that are a right pain to fit, i.e if you spin easy access nuts down so the manifold is against the gasket you may find it inpossible to fit the awkward ones.....talking from personal experience
