and the question is: is one Holley fuel pump enough? Had no problems to run a high tuned Chevy with one pump but have seen many racing V8s (Cobra etc.) with four pumps!!! Just for the case one or two are missing? The RV8 is not to compare with but there a still four Dellortos and before I order a fuel tank, two outlets are better anyway I think. One or two pumps?
Any ideas?
Hello
Nice to see you back on here
If it is a road car I would keep it simple and use one (provided it is big enough), for a circute car for short duration races I would say the same. If you are endurance racing (anything more than about 2 hours) then I would run two pumps and double plumb it from tank to carbs but have it set up main/ reserve ie only one set running at any time and you have to deliberatly change from one set up to the other.
Can't see why you would have 4 pumps unless you thought the car wasn't heavy enough and it was too reliable.
I would avoid running multiple pumps where you are trying to get around not having a big enough pump, get the right sized pump, it is out there, otherwise you are just asking for an unreliable set up that is difficult to fault find.
Best regards
Mike
That is nice,
that chassis looks as if it is a serious piece of engineering, should be nice and stiff, but as you say it looks heavy.
