My shafts have no distinquising marks. My rocker assemblies were new and provided by DJE. When I went to install I could not find the notch. I therefore gave them a call and they told me that the new ones do not have the notch and that it does not matter which way they are installed.

Adam,
It most certainly DOES matter which way they are orientated.
The output feed holes that oil the rockers should face down and 'into' the valley on each bank. Ie towards each other. If they don't you will sh*g the rockers and probably shafts in short order. They will fit easily in the wrong orientation and you can't tell unless you have the marked shafts.
Lifting them off the heads by undoing the pillar bolts will allow you to slide one of the rockers along the shaft against the spacer springs to see where the output holes are pointing. If they are correct and you just refit as they came off you wont alter the preload settings in the slightest, so nothing lost.
Even if you have to re-orientate the shaft you're highly unlikely to alter the preloads as long as you put it back of the same head.
If you're not certain they're correct you should check them.

Oh right so if wrong I can just twist the shaft ? That being the case then I am it will not adjust the pre-loads which I spent far too long doing!
