Edelbrock 500

Post by Roger.S »

The throttle connection bracket on my Edelbrock carb does not look right or operate right. In the picture attached the arm/bracket is pulled left by the spring whereas I think it should run up and down the picture at right angles to the cable. Perhaps there should be a spacer or something?

Can anyone help??

looks ok to me, as long as it all moves smoothly though the full travel it will be fine. just straighten up the throttle linkage bracket, it looks well pissed....

Hi Roger,

This is my set up. I drilled & tapped the throttle cable bracket & fitted a grub screw to stop it from rotating around the carb mounting screw. Also I made another bracket for the spring which goes on the rocker cover screw.

I was going to post up that the setup in the first picture will wear out the carb due to the position of the throttle spring but describing how it should be setup is difficult. The setup that Ged has posted is spot on and will cause no wear of the throttle spindle at all. :)

Thanks guys, I knew it wasn't right!. I couldn't believe that the bracket should just be tightened up to locate it and was looking for some other location device. Apparently there is none, but I like the idea of a grub screw or perhaps some sort of pin, and will add this in due course....

I hope the guy who designed to carb is different to the one who designed the bracket!

Thanks again

Roger
